Not having to get up and go to work yet still being paid, if only for a few days, not only changed the face of society, it also changed workers' lives. Since 1936 workers can enjoy a number of days of paid holiday. In this publication, ten fi lms plunge the viewer back in the 20th century and show the renewed zest for life of holiday-goers and the ways in which they apprehend this new form of liberty. The text by Pierre Tilly recounts the reasons and the milestones of this social revolution.
