After their startling first two films (Cash? Cash!, 1967 and The Embrace, 1969), Paul Collet and Pierre Drouot decided the time fit to aim at the make-love-not-war-generation as well as to lure those who learned to appreciate Flemish cinema with Mira. In Louisa, a costume drama set at the eve of World War I, Mira’s shooting star Willeke Van Ammelrooy, plays a bewildering but vivacious aristocrat who plunges herself into a relationship with two bohemians. D.O.P Eddy Van der Enden, of Mira fame, creates some notorious soft focus shots and also stages a playful interpretation of Manet's Déjeuner sur l'herbe.
